STATS
Name:
James Peter Bethell - Jamie to
my mom, James to my friends, and
sometimes I've called D. Kaph
Occupation:
student/philosopher/musician/poet/celebrator
of life
Music
Style: lol how's
this for a niche genre: "dark
uplifting pounding melodic smooth
progressive tribal tech trance."
Plus whatever else comes out.
Years
Playing: Well,
I've been producing electronica
for about 3 years now, playing
the piano for 4, guitar for 8,
bass guitar for 9, and then saxamaphone
and ukalale, recorder et al since
elementary.
Zodiac
Sign:
Cancer. If there's anything about
me that's typical, it's that I'm
a typical (emotional) cancer boy.
Age:
Had to think about that for a
sec. :) 22 (and half!)
Hobby:
Well, I don't dabble in anything
- I either do it or I don't -
but I love music, photography,
physics, poetry, dancing, graphic
design, radio broadcasting, reading,
writing, and spanking it. Not
necessarily in that order.
Last
Project:
Songwise? I'm working on about
5 right now.. my synth is right
in front of me and it says "tada"
so I suppose that would be it.
Current
Project:
Like I said, about 5 (or more)
of them. I think it's finishing
"tada," but I keep getting
sidetracked on this breakbeat,
so maybe that wants to be a different
track or maybe I'm supposed to
make it a different progression..
have to see where it goes.
Next
Project:
I'm really wanting to get working
with my girls again - my vocalists
that is. Heather is a nursing
student in her final year, so
it's hard to find time with her,
but I have a couple of other girls
who've expressed interest so maybe
I'll do a track with like 4 different
vocalists singing in harmonics.
Not sure yet. I don't play projects,
they just kind of happen.
Childhood:
Perpetually. It's a great virtue
to be a child throughout your
life I think.
FAVOURITES
Place:
wherever you go, there you
are.
Woman
or Man: Women
are beautiful creatures.
Hero
or Mentor: Hmm..
Paul Van Dyk & Beethoven
for music, Hawking for physics,
Stephen King for writing.
Kahlil Gibran for everything
else.
Sport:
biking and
volleyball. And girl chasing
(which goes without saying)
Car:
bike
Food:
garlic
and slushie. is that a food?
Animal:
wolves/dogs, human beings
(in that order)
Book:
The Prophet, Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy, Stranger
in a Strange Land
Film:
Dead Poet's Society, The Wall,
Dune
Season:
All of them. But I'm a summer
baby, so that's my element.
Colour:
blue
or orange. plus silver. ack.
all of them.
Piece
of Gear: Yamaha
Motif6 super-duper power synth/seq/sampler

"We
are all angels. We are all
demons. There must be contrast,
otherwise angels wouldn't
BE angels, they would just
be. So demons are a necessary
counterpart (like if there
was no light, then we wouldn't
have a word for dark, because
it would just be that way)

OBJECTS
Regret:
only the things i haven't done
Fear:
only that of fear itself
Perfect
Night: when you
trance for 8 hours and effictively
leave your body to join the mass
of energy around you consciously

persuasiveness
Defect:
emotionally inclined (this is
a virtue also, but more often
a vice)

the dream." That's my answer...
ie life is a dream
Hope:
full of it
Memory:
all the important things
Vice:

spanking it is better
and your palm doesn't
get mad when you go
straight to the music
machine afterwards.
Love:
i am bursting at the seams with
it
Music:everything except for music

Angels:
we are all angels
Demons:
we are all demons. There must
be contrast, otherwise angels
wouldn't BE angels, they would
just be. So demons are a necessary
counterpart (like if there was
no light, then we wouldn't have
a word for dark, because it would
just be that way)
Aliens:
hehe. ... we are all aliens...
and yes, absolution to extraterrestrials...
er, absolutely.
Happiness:
is found in acceptance
Time:
a function of the expanding universe.
weird again, now I'm listening
to my track "time dilation"
which is about relativistic time
dilation, where time slows down
for the observer who approaches
light speed.
War:
"stupid bestial mortals,
making war, destroying yourselves.
Don't you see that war will kill
you? all of you? " - poisideon
Religion:
life. If your religion is a fancy
suit that you can put on and take
off then you'd be better off naked.
Peace:
"Peace? Peace? I hate the
word!" - Tybalt from from
R&J. Personally, I think it
is found in acceptance. It is
analogous with "happiness"
Death:
"There is no such thing as
death - in nature nothing dies.
From each sad remnant of decay,
some forms of life arise."
- Charles Mackay (and I read that
when I conducted my father's funeral).
Energy is never destroyed nor
created, only ever converted...
TV:
a tool necessary to bring me Simpsons
Pain:
experience it, cherish it, allow
it to pass through you.. only
you will remain.
Reincarnation:
(see death)
Life:
the grandest achievement
Past:
is where the circumstances for
the present arise.
Future:
is where our present circumstances
have yet to lead us
Success:
fulfillment of purpose
Perfection:
impossible, because everything
is dynamic therefor in a constant
state of limbo. If perfection
were achieved, it would all stop,
having been balanced. Actually,
it might happen yet.
Excellence:
is rarely recognised before you're
dead
Parties:
LIFE IS A PARTY. Not the other
way around
Future
of dance music:
we haven't imagined it yet.. but
it will probably work around full-circle
into something new altogether.
Justice:
is not for us to administer
Traveling:
awakens the soul
Miracles:
happen every second of every day.
That we are even here is a miracle.
Family:
mom, sister, dog, friends
The
Internet: The nation
of Instant Gratification.
Truth:
is in you and all around you.
Communication:
necessary to find truth
Youth:
is fleeting
